
The Department of Textile Engineering successfully organized an Industrial visit to Meghna Knit Composite Ltd., located at Gilarchala, Sreepur, Gazipur, on 19 October 2025 (Sunday).
A total of 31 students participated in this industrial visit, accompanied by two faculty members, Mr. Md. Omar Faruque and Mr. Md. Dulal Hosen. The team departed from the GUB permanent campus at 8:30 AM and reached the facility at around 10:30 AM. Upon arrival, Manager- Admin of the industry Mr. Abdul Majid and company HR cordially welcomed the team and delivered an introductory presentation highlighting the organization’s history, structure, and sustainable operations. Then he divided the students into two groups and assigned two supervisors from the industry and faculty members.
Meghna Knit Composite Ltd. (MKCL) is a vertically integrated apparel manufacturing unit under the Meghna Executive Holdings Ltd., established in 1965. Meghna Knit Composite Ltd. (established in 2007) – employs nearly 7000 people and is a part of the RMG miracle that has catapulted Bangladesh into the second-largest global apparels producer in the world.
The factory has extensive facilities encompassing dyeing, finishing, cutting, printing, and sewing — supported by advanced technology and an eco-friendly production environment. The company produces for renowned global brands such as H&M, Marks & Spencer, and Tesco, and holds several international certifications including ACCORD, GOTS, and OEKO-TEX.



During the visit, the students explored key operational sections:
Dyeing and Finishing
Pattern and Marker
Cutting
Sewing
Printing
ETP (Effluent Treatment Plant)
Research and Development (R&D) Department
Each section featured modern machinery and automation systems, allowing the students to observe the full process flow from fabric formation to finished garments. The students actively took notes and engaged with factory personnel to gain insight into industrial practices, process optimization, and sustainability management.
The visit concluded around 3:30 PM, followed by breakfast sponsored by the Green University Textile Club (GUTC) and snacks and lunch sponsored by the Meghna Knit Composite Ltd. The GUB authority provided full logistic and administrative support to make this visit a success. The team returned to the permanent campus at approximately 5:00 PM.
